Does Medicare cover dental care?

What you need to know
- Original Medicare generally does not cover cleanings, fillings, extractions, dentures, or routine dental exams.
- Limited exceptions exist for dental work that is part of a covered medical procedure (for example, before certain surgeries).
- Many Medicare Advantage plans include routine dental benefits at no extra premium.
